Crash-Course Authentic Movement

29. October 2021

Authentic Movement (AM) is a powerful method to support personal transformation.

Are you interested in learning more about The Discipline of Authentic Movement with our teacher for this course Prof. Helen Payne?

In this short three-hour online crash course, you will experience Authentic Movement in combination with art-based mediums, such as painting, writing etc. in individual (mover) and partner (mover and witness) settings. This crash course is for people with and without previous knowledge who are interested in Authentic Movement in general or as taught in the course ZOE SCHOOL FOR DANCE MOVEMENT THERAPY.

Authentic Movement enables a state of being which opens the way for the unfolding and experience of all that is. The relationship between Mover and Witness is seen as a reciprocal relationship that brings forth embodied understanding. Authentic Movement is a clearly structured practice that consists of practicing presence in the roles of both Mover and Witness in order to perceive and grasp movement, and to derive the conversation about movement. Adler (2002, p. xix) describes this as “the conscious development of relationships between the moving self and the witness, between the individual body and the collective body, between the self and the divine”.
Text: Helen Payne and Brigitte Züger
